GEORGE TOWN: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will open bidding for a special vehicle registration number series bearing the index ‘P_P’ in conjunction with its 80th anniversary celebration.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said bidding for the series would run from Monday, April 20, until 10 pm on April 24 via the JPJeBid online vehicle registration bidding system, with results to be announced on April 25.
He said the exclusive series was introduced as a symbolic tribute to eight decades of JPJ’s role and contribution to the development of the national transport system.
“The choice of the ‘P_P’ index reflects JPJ’s role in transport and enforcement, while also being synonymous with Penang,” he said after launching the special registration series at The Top here today.
Aedy Fadly said the minimum bid prices were set according to category, namely principal numbers from RM20,000, premium (RM5,000), attractive (RM2,500), popular (RM500) and current numbers (RM300).
He said successful bidders must register the numbers on a vehicle within 12 months from the date of the official results letter.
Meanwhile, he said in conjunction with the Mega JPJ Madani Carnival 2026, to be held at Batu Kawan Stadium from April 24 to 26, the department would also offer nearly 50,000 registration numbers for direct sale at a 50 per cent discount.
“For example, attractive numbers will be offered from RM250, involving unsold numbers that have yet to be registered, and these can only be purchased at the carnival on April 26 only,” he said. – BERNAMA
