KUCHING: A total of 45 staff from the National Registration Department (JPN) Sarawak, including senior officers, Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, and frontline counter staff, attended a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training programme to enhance emergency response capabilities.

The programme was organised by the Welfare, Cultural and Recreational Council (MADAH) Southern Zone and National Registration Department (JPN) Sarawak, in collaboration with the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Stampin Branch.

The one-day session held on Tuesday, officiated by JPN Sarawak director and MADAH Chairman, Mahathir Bujang, aimed to enhance staff preparedness and response capabilities during medical emergencies.

Certified trainer Soh Ai Lim from MRC Stampin Branch led the session, guiding Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, senior officers, and counter service staff through hands-on demonstrations of CPR techniques and the proper use of AED devices.

The programme focused on developing practical life-saving skills among personnel, emphasising the importance of early intervention during critical situations.

During the closing ceremony, MRC Stampin branch chairperson, Chew Kim Soon, handed over two wheelchairs to JPN Sarawak to be placed at the department’s Customer Service Counter for the assistance of senior citizens and individuals with mobility challenges.

“This collaborative effort reflects our commitment to enhancing community readiness and providing meaningful support to public institutions,” said Chew.

“We are proud to contribute both knowledge and resources to create a safer and more inclusive environment for all.”

JPN Sarawak expressed its appreciation to MRC Stampin Branch for its continued support in promoting safety awareness and humanitarian values among the public service community.
