KUCHING: Jpro Badminton Academy Kuching’s young talent, Fayyad Razyn Khawaja, emerged champion in the Boys’ Singles Under-8 category at the Ace 6.0 Badminton Open 2025.

The tournament, held at Long River Sports in Selangor on September 27-28, saw Fayyad cruise to a convincing 30-9 victory over his West Malaysian opponent, Tey Kai Qian, in the final.

Fayyad’s coach, Kong Chee Kiet, praised the youngster for his progress but reminded him to stay grounded.

“My wish for him is to keep working hard, remain humble, and always uphold discipline,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted today.

Kong also emphasised the importance of maintaining the training discipline instilled by him and sparring coach, Azizul.

Fayyad, a student at Green Road Primary School, has been showing consistent form and strong performances this year.

He was the Under-9 Singles first runner-up at the Sarawak Young Badminton Talent 2025, and earlier in May, he also finished runner-up in the Boys’ Singles Under-9 at the Brighttrax Badminton Junior Championship.

Fayyad, who hails from Kuching, is showing signs of becoming one of Sarawak’s bright badminton prospects.
