BINTULU: The Land and Survey Department (JTS) presented corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds totalling RM110,000 to seven recipients, underscoring the Sarawak government’s commitment to community welfare alongside rapid development.
The contribution was made in conjunction with the Land and Survey (LANDAS) Summit 2026, reflecting the state government’s continued efforts to ensure that local communities, particularly those affected by quarrying, mining and sand and gravel extraction activities, were not left behind.
The CSR initiative, implemented through JTS, forms part of the Sarawak government’s ongoing concern for the well-being of surrounding communities and its emphasis on inclusive and sustainable development.
Of the total amount, RM60,000 was allocated to the education sector, benefitting three schools to support educational sustainability and school infrastructure. Each school received RM20,000; they were SK Sungai Kem Batu 18, Bintulu; SK Kuala Tatau, Tatau; and SK Sungai Setulan, Bintulu.
Meanwhile, RM50,000 was channelled to the community sector, involving four Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) to support local development activities. The recipients were JKKK Rumah Panjang Tr. Pada anak Selan, JKKK Rumah Panjang Tr. Daniel anak Munking and JKKK Rumah Panjang Tr. James Kalip anak Ambu, each receiving RM10,000, while JKKK Kampung Haji Ismail, Tatau received RM20,000.
The CSR programme goes beyond financial assistance, serving as a strategic effort to foster harmonious relationships between industry players and local communities. The Sarawak government reiterated that the exploitation of natural resources must generate meaningful socio-economic returns for communities living in areas affected by quarrying, mining and extraction activities.
The initiative carried out under LANDAS Summit 2026 is expected to serve as a catalyst for greater corporate collaboration in the future, in line with Sarawak’s aspiration to achieve inclusive and sustainable prosperity.
