MIRI: A series of ‘Jualan Rahmah’ will continue to be held every month across the Senadin constituency, offering essential goods at heavily discounted prices in a bid to help households cope with the rising cost of living.

This was disclosed by Senadin Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, who is also Sarawak’s Transport Minister, when met on Sunday during the ‘Jualan Rahmah’ event held at Kampung Pujut Tanjong Batu.

The initiative, organised with the support of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, made its latest stop in the village that morning.

Residents flocked to pick up daily necessities such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, chicken, beef, fish and eggs, with discounts of up to 30 per cent.

“This effort is about making it easier for people to access affordable essentials close to home,” Lee said, while expressing appreciation to the ministry for its continued backing.

“We encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity as the savings can make a real difference.”

The rolling programme of ‘Jualan Rahmah’ has been running throughout the year, with mobile markets of ‘Jualan Rahmah’ held in various housing estates and villages across Senadin.

The schedule for the coming months has already been set: SMK Merbau in Permyjaya will host the October market, Riam will follow, and Tudan is slated for November.

Lee stressed that the monthly markets will continue until the end of the year, ensuring more communities can benefit.

Locations are chosen in consultation with village chiefs to ensure convenience and accessibility.

By bringing discounted food and household staples directly into neighbourhoods, the ‘Jualan Rahmah’ series is seen as a vital lifeline for families grappling with tighter budgets.
