SERIAN: Jubni Sulong and Nur Syakura Mohamad Musa emerged as ‘Qari Terbaik’ and ‘Qariah Terbaik’ respectively at the 65th Sarawak State-Level Tilawah and Hafazan Al-Quran Competition, held at the Serian Conference Centre on Saturday (Feb 7).
The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Sanusi.
The event brought together outstanding Quran reciters and memorisers from across Sarawak, highlighting excellence in both ‘tilawah’ and ‘hafazan’ categories.
In the ‘Hafazan Al-Quran’ (Male) category, Muhammad Najdat Arsyad Mazalan Abdul Rahman clinched the championship for Juzuk 1-30, while Harith Zakwan Sebli won the Juzuk 1-20 category.
The Juzuk 1-10 title was secured by Azizul Azmin Abdul Rajak.
For the female ‘Hafazan (Hafizah)’ category, Izyan Nur Fazreena Ismail emerged champion for Juzuk 1-20, while Adeela Bokhari won the Juzuk 1-10 category.
The ceremony began with the announcement of official results by the chairman of the panel of judges, Sahibul Fadhilah Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi, followed by a Quran recitation by the participant who achieved the highest overall score.
In his address, Wan Junaidi extended his heartfelt congratulations to all winners and participants, expressing hope that their achievements would continue to inspire efforts to uphold and strengthen Islamic teachings in Sarawak.
He said the appreciation and practice of the Quran are essential in nurturing knowledgeable and virtuous generations, with the holy book serving as an enduring guide in life.
The ceremony concluded with a prayer led by Sarawak Deputy Grand Imam, Ustaz Mohammad Ihsan Haidzir.
