JULAU: A total of 61 individuals officially received their appointment certificates as Community and Village Heads (KMKK) for Julau District at the Julau Community Hall on Tuesday (Feb 3).
Meluan assemblyman Datuk Rolland Duat Jubin, who officiated the appointment ceremony, said grassroots leaders must always prioritise the interests of the people and play an effective role as a bridge between the government and the community.
“This appointment is a great trust that must be carried out with full responsibility. The role of the KMKK is not merely holding a position, but serving as a pillar of harmony and unity within the community.”
He also emphasised the importance of leadership with integrity and unity among communities, particularly longhouse communities.
Meanwhile, Julau district officer Minggu Jampong said the ceremony symbolised the government’s recognition of the vital role played by grassroots leaders in ensuring the welfare and prosperity of the people in the district.
“This KMKK appointment is not merely symbolic, but signifies leadership that carries significant responsibilities in resolving community issues promptly at the district and respective areas.
“KMKK serves as the main pillar of the government at the longhouse, district and community levels.”
One of the certificate recipients, Raweng Intri, 63, expressed his gratitude and pride for the trust placed in him.
“This trust is not a privilege, but a great responsibility that must be upheld for the benefit of all.”
He also hoped that all parties would continue working together to develop longhouses and enhance the well-being of local residents.
The ceremony was further enlivened with the presentation of souvenirs, a photography session and a reception.
