JULAU: The new Julau Health Clinic is expected to be fully completed in 2028, providing improved access to healthcare services for residents in the rural areas of the district.

Meluan state assemblyman, Datuk Rolland Duat Jubin, said the project was a key government initiative to ensure rural communities had access to more comfortable, modern and quality healthcare facilities.

“The implementation of this project reflects the government’s concern in meeting the basic needs of the people, particularly in safeguarding the wellbeing and quality of life of rural communities,” he said after conducting a site visit to inspect the initial works for the construction of the new Julau Health Clinic recently.

Duat said the new clinic would reduce the need for residents to seek treatment in other towns such as Sarikei and Sibu, which were located some distance away.

The project, he added, involved the construction of a Type 4 health clinic (KK4), complete with a District Health Office, staff quarters and supporting facilities.

The scope of works includes earthworks, building construction, mechanical and electrical installations, drainage systems, landscaping, security fencing, parking facilities, as well as internal and external infrastructure.

The project is being implemented by the Public Works Department (PWD) under a three-year contract.
