KUCHING: Swiftlet farmers in Sarawak are in for a knowledge boost as the Sarawak Bird’s Nest Merchants Association announced it will be organising a practical seminar titled ‘Swiftlet Mastery 2.0 Kuching Edition’ on July 26.
The event is scheduled to take place from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at Li Garden Restaurant, CityOne Megamall, Kuching.
The seminar will feature two well-known figures in the swiftlet farming industry, a hands-on swiftlet attraction coach, Kiew Meng Kui, and an expert in swiftlet farming systems, MD Koay (Koay Miao Duo).
Both speakers are set to deliver field-tested strategies aimed at helping swiftlet farmers overcome common industry challenges such as declining production, stagnant growth, and low swiftlet occupancy rates.
According to the Sarawak Bird’s Nest Merchants Association, the seminar offers a structured, proven, and practical approach that moves away from the usual “trial and error” method.
“Through such events, we aim to bring real-world experience to the industry, helping farmers avoid common pitfalls and reignite their passion for swiftlet farming,” it said.
Participants will gain insights into essential areas such as flight path design for better swiftlet movement, proper horn speaker setup and sound positioning, audio tuning methods to maximise attraction power, temperature and humidity controls for optimal nesting environments, effective ventilation and airflow techniques, correct lighting direction and management, as well as recovery strategies to rejuvenate underperforming or idle swiftlet houses.
“The seminar is open to all swiftlet farmers, with participation fees set at RM80 for association members and RM120 for non-members. The fee includes on-site guidance and refreshments,” the association added
Interested participants can register by making payment to the Sarawak Bird’s Nest Merchants Association via RHB Bank (Account No.: 21101600086265).
