KUCHING: Sarawak’s Kabilan Jelevan made a blistering campaign in Jakarta, overpowering Indonesia’s Brian Lawitan with a unanimous decision win at Byon Combat Showbiz Vol. 5 yesterday (June 28).
The 62-kg kick striking held at Tennis Indoor Senayan stadium, saw Kabilan dictate the tempo from start to finish, landing clean strikes and maintaining distance control throughout all three rounds.
All judges awarded the bout to the Malaysian, who remained composed and clinical in front of a partisan Jakarta crowd.
In a post-match interview, the Kuching-born fighter took a moment to thank his fans.
“Malaysia, Indonesia, thank you for supporting me. I believe that in the future, I will do even better,” he said.
Meanwhile, Brian offered respect to his opponent.
“I call good game. He showed good power and was definitely at the top of his game.
“I respect Kabilan – and Malaysia is without a doubt, good,” said the Indonesian fighter, who remained gracious in defeat.
The win marks Kabilan’s third straight victory this year, building on earlier triumphs at the Rentap Fighting Championship and LWC Super Champ 75.
Saturday’s win in Jakarta was broadcast live via Vidio.com, with highlight reels of Kabilan’s crisp combinations and tactical awareness quickly gaining traction on social media.
Insiders suggests more international match-ups are already being lined up, with promoters viewing the Kuching-based fighter as a strong draw for future events.
