THE Kabong health clinic should be upgraded to a Scale 4 facility to improve healthcare access for residents amid a growing population and increased daily patient numbers.
Kabong assemblyman Datuk Mohd Chee Kadir said the upgrade would provide the community with essential services that are currently unavailable at the clinic.
“With Scale 4, residents will have access to X-ray facilities, laboratory services, a fully-equipped dental clinic, dietetics and nutrition services, full rehabilitation services, and a more comprehensive emergency unit,” he said.

He said this when debating the Supply (2026) Bill, 2025 at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Friday (Nov 28).
The upgrade proposal comes as Kabong attains full district status and faces longer travel distances to the nearest hospital.
“This upgrade will have a significant impact on the well-being of Kabong residents and reduce the pressure on other district hospitals.
“It is also highly reasonable for a district hospital to be built in Kabong so that rural communities can benefit from the facilities provided by the government for the people,” Mohd Chee added.
In addition, he highlighted the importance of investing in a new Type B ambulance for both Kabong health clinic and Nyabor health clinic, each estimated to cost RM400,000, to replace older ambulances that frequently break down.
“This investment is crucial to ensure faster emergency response, especially with the growing population and increasing economic activities in Kabong,” he added.
