KABONG: Two major development projects in Kabong – the Affordable Housing Project under the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) at Kampung Hulu Kabong and the Kabong New Town Extension – are progressing ahead of schedule, according to the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA).
Implemented under the state’s People’s Project initiative, both projects are designed to raise living standards in rural areas by providing affordable housing and modern infrastructure.
The Kampung Hulu Kabong project, comprising 75 units of LCDA Sapphire 1 homes with a floor area of 871.87 square feet each, has reached 14 per cent completion as of August 25 – well ahead of its original 6 per cent target.
Scheduled for full completion in 2026, the houses are built using the Industrialised Building System (IBS) for faster and more efficient construction.
Basic infrastructure, including roads and drainage, was earlier completed by the Land and Survey Department.
Meanwhile, the Kabong New Town Extension, which began on April 3 this year, has already achieved 16 per cent progress, slightly ahead of its 15 per cent target.
The project includes a new food court, wet and dry markets, paved roads, drains, street lighting and other supporting facilities.
“These initiatives reflect the government’s strong commitment to accelerating rural development, ensuring that residents enjoy modern, well-organised and comfortable living environments,” LCDA said in a statement today.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who visited the sites on behalf of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, was briefed on the progress by LCDA representatives.
