Astro Shaw head Raja Jastina Raja Arshad expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support and praised the audience’s positive response to the film’s storyline and production quality.
“Thank you to everyone who supported the film. We are grateful for the warm reception to this film,” she said.
“Based on audience reactions and feedback, many have shared that they liked the storyline, the quality of production and they understood the message conveyed, particularly about the importance of family as a foundation for personal growth.
“We hope more people will give this film a chance, watch it in cinemas and share their thoughts and experiences with us.”
Directed by Razaisyam Rashid, “Kahar: Kapla High Council” features a talented cast, including Amir Ahnaf, Aedy Ashraf, Sky Iskandar, Thompson Goh, Khenobu, Fadhli Masoot, Fazziq Muqris, and others.
Set in 2005, the film follows the story of Kahar (played by Amir Ahnaf), a quiet Form 4 student at Kolej Ungku Deramat (KUDRAT), who struggles to meet his father’s high expectations.
Unintentionally, Kahar becomes involved in an ‘election’ to become the Kapla, the leader of the High Council, which pits him against numerous adversaries, including his own brother, Beja (played by Aedy Ashraf).
Exploring themes of family, friendship, bullying, and mental health, “Kahar: Kapla High Council” has also partnered with the Mental Illness Awareness & Support Association (MIASA Malaysia) and the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF).
Together, they aim to promote awareness of anti-bullying and anti-violence campaigns and emphasise that violence is not the answer.
