SARATOK: Lohan Ganti, an elderly woman residing at a relative’s home near Kampung Tanjung Hulu, can now live more comfortably thanks to home repairs facilitated by Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri.

The project, which began a few months ago, focused on upgrading the residence of her relatives, including the room where Lohan stays.

“I was deeply moved by her situation. Although it’s tough to witness, it’s even tougher to endure. That’s why we took steps to help as much as we could,” said Mohamad when contacted today.

He described the effort as a small but meaningful contribution aimed at improving Lohan’s living conditions.

Mohamad, accompanied by his wife Norlida Sharkawi, Betong Divisional Social Welfare Office (PKMB) representative Norfitri Sapini, and Betong Welfare Volunteers Organisation (PSKP) chairman Abang Suhaimi Abang Mohamad, visited Lohan at her residence.

Lohan is currently receiving the Senior Citizens Allowance (BWE) of RM500 per month. Additionally, she benefits from the Home Help Programme (KBDR), which provides support to those in need.

“I commend the welfare department for their commitment to assisting Lohan and ensuring that volunteers from PSKP deliver meaningful help to those truly in need in Saratok,” Mohamad added.

He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising the welfare of his constituents.

Also present during the visit were Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka Branch secretary Gapor Ahmad, Youth head Harjam Jemain and Women head Lela Ali.
