SIMUNJAN: The long-awaited dream of Kampung Hijrah Phase 2 residents to have their own community hall is finally becoming a reality, as the project has received official approval and will be implemented in phases.

According to Batang Sadong Member of Parliament, Rodiyah Sapiee, the village has long lacked any hall facility, forcing community events to be held outdoors or at temporary venues.

“As a first step, a site for the hall has been identified near the village’s laundry area.

“Through the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) funding, I have approved an allocation of RM200,000, specifically for the construction of a retaining wall at the site,” she said during a Hari Raya gathering here on Saturday.

The project has also garnered full support from Simunjan assemblyman, Awla Dris, who will provide additional funding for the construction of the hall itself.

“I’ve provided the allocation for the retaining wall, and Awla will fund the building’s structure. This will be a lasting gift for the villagers,” Rodiyah added.

During the event, she also urged all village heads in the Simunjan District to collaborate and extend their full cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of development projects.

She stressed the crucial role of village chiefs as grassroots leaders in delivering information, coordinating residents’ needs, and facilitating smooth project execution.

Rodiyah further highlighted that successful development depends on the support and active participation of all stakeholders, especially village heads, to ensure that benefits are fully enjoyed by the community.

Meanwhile, Awla said the complete construction of the hall will be included in the 2026 RTP planning for the Simunjan constituency.

Construction of the retaining wall is expected to begin this year, in collaboration with the relevant agencies.

“If all goes well, the hall is expected to be completed by 2027.

“It will serve as a new village landmark and greatly enhance the organisation of social, religious, and community programmes in Kampung Hijrah Phase 2,” Awla said.
