MIRI: Communities in Sarawak have rallied together to support families affected by the devastating floods in late January, which forced many from their homes.

Tragedy struck further on Jan 29, when a landslide in Kampung Lereng Bukit, Miri, claimed five lives and prompted emergency evacuations.

In response to the crisis, the Pewarisi Haji Solhi Trust Fund, established by the family of the late Haji Solhi Edin, has stepped in to provide aid to those in need.

The fund’s patron, Datuk Sharbini Suhaili, delivered relief supplies to victims of both the floods and the landslide in Miri.

The distribution effort was also overseen by the fund’s chairman, Alimin Solhi.

Originally founded to offer financial assistance for education and essential needs to family members, the trust fund has extended its support beyond its original mission, stepping up to help neighbouring communities in times of hardship.

The latest relief efforts underline its ongoing commitment to those affected by disaster.
