SIMUNJAN: Residents of Kampung Sageng Sabal can look forward to a series of infrastructure development projects in the near future with the aim at enhancing their quality of life.
Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris said among the key projects is the Kampung Sageng Riverbank Erosion Control Project, which has already been awarded to a contractor and is awaiting commencement.
“This project is critical as the growing riverbank erosion poses a significant risk to both the safety of the residents and their homes,” he said at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering in Kampung Sageng Sabal yesterday (Apr 26).
Awla said a briefing on the Simunjan Flood Mitigation Plan (RTB) would be held on Apr 29 at the Simunjan District Office, involving 18 villages and aimed at providing village chiefs with an overview of the project’s scope.
He added the construction of connecting lanes in five Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) areas in Kampung Sageng, namely Hilir, Ulu, Tengah, Sabal, and Baru, will be incorporated into his plans for the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) in 2026.

“This initiative is crucial to ensure improved road connectivity for residents, facilitating better mobility and overall convenience in their daily lives,” he said.
Awla also outlined plans to build a new Community Hall in Kampung Sageng Sabal.
The Aidilfitri gathering was a vibrant affair, featuring symbolic activities such as drum performances, the cutting of ketupat, and the slicing of lemang by Awla, while local music group Kumpulan Rakan Muzik Sageng Sabal (KRAMUSS) entertained attendees with a live performance of popular and festive songs, creating a lively atmosphere.
The gathering also saw the presentation of prizes to winners of the decoration and singing competitions, while children received duit raya.
