MIRI: About 350 residents of Kampung Sungai Dua came together at Lakeside Ilham Center here yesterday (Jan 3) to celebrate Family Day and usher in the 2026 New Year.
The event was officiated by Baram MP Datuk Anyi Ngau and Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau.
Anyi commended the organising committee for successfully hosting a programme that emphasised family values and community unity.
“Initiatives like this are vital in strengthening relationships and fostering mutual respect among villagers,” he said.
Dennis echoed the importance of togetherness, saying unity is the foundation for the community’s well-being and development.
“Family Day not only provides recreation and social interaction but also serves as a platform to enhance cooperation for the sustainable development of the village,” he added.
The celebration featured activities catering to residents of all ages, aimed at building stronger community ties and reinforcing the spirit of togetherness.
Organisers noted that the friendly and harmonious atmosphere throughout the event reflected the strong sense of family and solidarity among Kampung Sungai Dua residents.
