OYA: A new multipurpose hall costing about RM400,000 is expected to be built in Kampung Teh here in the near future.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the project began in 2016 with identifying a site for the hall, followed by soil-filling works costing RM140,000.

She added for the second and third phases of the project, an allocation of RM130,000 was approved last year.

“For this year, another RM130,000 was allocated under the minor rural project (MRP) and is expected to be disbursed in the first quarter of this year,” she said at the simple ground-breaking ceremony in Kampung Teh here today (March 6)

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, hoped that with the additional allocation provided, the long awaited hall would become a reality.

She said that currently, Kampung Teh has a family garden and a waterfront and hoped that it would be used not only for recreational purposes, but also for family gatherings and economic activities.

According to her, the proposed project is located at a strategic location with a waterfront behind it, which is good for economic and fishing activities.

Fatimah said the hall has a capacity of about 500 and also includes two badminton courts.

She added that a rural transformation project (RTP) to construct concrete drainage in the village was also approved this year, which would be implemented by the Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM).
