BINTULU: More than 100 residents in Kampung Yoh can now enjoy clean, treated water piped directly into their homes following the successful completion of the Yayasan PETRONAS Clean Water Project.
The newly installed system was officially handed over today by Yayasan PETRONAS Chief Executive Officer, Shariah Nelly Francis, to Sebauh District Chief Penghulu Morshidi Tali during a ceremony held at the Kampung Yoh public hall.
Witnessing the event was Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak who is also the Kemena Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.
The project, led by Yayasan PETRONAS – the social impact arm of PETRONAS – was implemented in collaboration with Yayasan Ikhlas.
It now serves 37 households in the village, significantly improving access to clean filtered water and uplifting community health standards.
In addition to the water system, Yayasan PETRONAS and Yayasan Ikhlas also distributed food baskets to villagers as part of their continued outreach efforts.
This marks the second successful handover under the clean water initiative, following the completion of a similar project in September 2024 at Kampung Lakutan, Lawas, where a Gravity Water System was installed to provide 26 houses with consistent access to treated water.
These efforts are aligned with the United Nations Development Programme’s Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
