MUKAH: A celebration of music, culture and shared identity is set to take place this Sunday (April 27) as ‘Konsert Malam Perpaduan: Rhythm of Unity’ returns to the Kaul Mukah festival stage.
Organised by Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS), the concert, taking place at the main stage of Tapak Kaul, promises an evening of unforgettable performances, showcasing Sarawak’s rich musical diversity, from traditional sounds to contemporary rhythms.
“Kaul is a celebration deeply rooted in Melanau tradition. It’s a time to honour their culture, heritage and identity,” said a YPS spokesperson.
“We believe this concert provides an excellent platform to promote unity and diversity, offering Sarawakians of all races, as well as visitors from outside the state, the chance to experience the richness of Melanau culture and the many other ethnic traditions that make Sarawak unique.”
Back by popular demand after last year’s successful debut, the concert returns at the invitation of the Kaul Mukah organising committee with an enhanced lineup, bold new collaborations, and a deeper commitment to fostering unity through the arts.
Taking centre stage will be the YPS Sape Ambassadors, renowned for their distinctive fusion of the sape with a variety of ethnic and modern instruments, whose music resonates across generations, symbolising both cultural pride and artistic innovation.
This year’s concert also welcomes ambassadors from Peninsular Malaysia, including an Orang Asli from Perak and an Indian performer from Selangor, who will join Sarawakian artists on stage.
The evening will also feature guest performances, including gold medallist, Stanford Ryan, who triumphed at the 27th World Championships of Performing Arts, and the Sibu D’Tari dance troupe, with their interactive “mengarang” segment.
‘Konsert Malam Perpaduan: Rhythm of Unity’, with free entry, invites all to come together for an uplifting night of cultural celebration beneath the stars.
