SIBU: The amendments to the Death Compassionate Assistance (BIK) distributed to Kenyalang Gold Card (KCG) holders are expected to provide more benefits to cardholders while they are still alive, said Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
The Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister said the ministry has reviewed the assistance, and with the approval of the state government, it is expected to start this year.
Through the amendment, the death assistance amounting to RM3,000 would be reduced and channelled to cardholders for relevant healthcare treatment.
“We will start with the B40 group, where it will provide medical benefits to them. When KGC holders go to our health panel for treatment, the treatment payment will be deducted directly from the amount given to the cardholder,” she said.
She said this when speaking at the presentation ceremony of the KGC strategic partner plaque to Win Hotel, here today (March 1).
The Dalat assemblywoman said that the assistance limit for one year will be determined later.
“This means that when cardholders are still alive, they can use the KGC to obtain healthcare treatment at private clinics and private hospitals.
“Therefore, through this initiative, they (KGC holders) do not have to queue for healthcare treatment at government hospitals,” she added.
