KUCHING: KDC Motorsport Club chairman Fish Lee, representing Sarawak, Malaysia, unleashed his driving prowess at the Indonesian Formula Drift Round 3 and Round 4, steering his car to a thrilling third-place finish.
This achievement not only highlights Lee’s exceptional driving skills and competitive prowess but also brings international recognition to Sarawak’s motorsport scene.
During the event, Lee’s competition car unexpectedly caught fire before the race, creating a critical situation.
However, a recent press statement highlighted that, thanks to the team’s swift response and collaborative efforts, the vehicle was repaired and successfully returned to the track.
“This incident not only demonstrated the team’s spirit of cooperation and professionalism but also made Lee’s podium finish even more remarkable,” the statement read.
Lee said in the same statement that this competition was an unforgettable experience for him.
“When the car caught fire, we were all very tense, but my teammates did not give up. They acted quickly and managed to get the car back on track.
“Standing on the podium would not have been possible without their hard work and support. I am grateful to my team, my family, and all the friends who cheered me on. This achievement belongs to all of us,” he said.
In addition to Lee’s outstanding performance, other Malaysian drivers also showcased their strength at the event, such as Gui Foo Sing from Sabah, Benedict Paul, and Along Fazreen from Kuala Lumpur all achieved excellent results, bringing honour to Malaysian motorsport.
“Their performances not only proved the capabilities of Malaysian drivers but also highlighted the unity and progress of the Malaysian motorsport community,” the statement added.
KDC Motorsport Club aims to continue to support Lee and other Malaysian drivers in participating in more international events, while also committing to nurturing the next generation of racing talent.
