KUCHING: The Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) paid a courtesy call to newly appointed Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan today (Feb 4) to discuss potential collaborations and strengthen ties between the two organisations.
The courtesy call aims to introduce KDJA to the new director who took office beginning Jan 2 this year.
During the visit, KDJA President Ronnie Teo Teck Wei expressed the association’s commitment to supporting and enhancing the quality of journalism in Sarawak.
“We are excited about the opportunity to continue working closely with UKAS to promote responsible journalism and elevate media standards in our region,” said Teo.
Past collaborations between UKAS and KDJA include hosting the Sarawak Media Conference (SMeC 2024) in conjunction with the Sarawak Level Hari Wartawan Nasional (HAWANA); Blood Donation Drive between the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), UKAS and KDJA; education workshops and dialogue engagements.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to explore various initiatives aimed at improving journalistic practices and ensuring the integrity of news reporting in Sarawak.
