KUCHING: In conjunction with our nation’s 61st Independence Day celebration, the Sarawak Keadilan Youth (AMK) distributed some 100 miniature National flags here yesterday. Deputy Chief of Sarawak Keadilan Youth, Simon Siah said, “Much has been said that as Sarawakians we should not be celebrating 31st of August as it is not Sarawak’s Independence day. However, we believe that as a nation, we can only grow stronger if we are united.
“As the country now moves into a new governance, Pakatan Harapan will definitely seek to right the wrong that was done to Sarawak.
In the Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto and in the ‘New Deal New Hope’ which focuses specifically on Sarawak, we believe that Sarawak will be in a better position compared to the time under the administration of Barisan Nasional.
“Malaysia made history on 9th of May, 2018 and we showed to the world that we as a country is one of the best examples of a working democracy. Let us not be weak but be strong in our commitment to raise Malaysia even higher.
Like the famous quote of John F. Kennedy, “ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country”.
Simon also called on all Sarawakians as Malaysians to rise up together hand-in-hand to carry Malaysia on their shoulders for a better future of their children. “This is the country we love and this is the country that we will die for,” he pointed out.
