BINTULU: Ramadan bazaar traders have been reminded to prioritise food and environmental cleanliness to ensure the safety and comfort of customers.
Tanjong Batu assemblyman, Johnny Pang, said cleanliness not only reflects the quality of a business but is also crucial to safeguarding customers’ health.
“Ramadan bazaars attract large crowds.
“Therefore, traders must ensure the food they sell is clean and safe for consumption.
“In addition, their stalls should always be kept tidy and free from rubbish to create a pleasant atmosphere for buyers,” he said.

He made these remarks after visiting the Ramadan bazaar in front of NU Hotel and the Bintulu Esplanade on Monday.
During the visit, he also distributed iftar and imsak timetables to the public.
According to him, poor hygiene can lead to various health issues, such as food poisoning, and also tarnish the reputation of traders and the Ramadan bazaar as a whole.
“We want traders to be more responsible by ensuring that food is prepared hygienically and using fresh ingredients.
“The cleanliness of stalls must also be maintained to ensure the comfort of all parties,” he added.
