KUALA LUMPUR: Khairy Jamaluddin, a nominee for the Malaysian Paralympic Council (MPM) president’s post, has come forward to explain that he is eligible to contest the seat as the deadline for submission of nomination forms was extended by the body.
The former Youth and Sports Minister said he was informed by MPM’s honorary secretary Siti Zaharah Abdul Khalid verbally that nominations could be sent until June 15, although the nomination form stated it should be before the date, meaning before 11.59 pm on June 14.
“If there is a decision made later, that the nomination is invalid or late and so forth, I have no problem with that; I just want to offer my services. I just want to contest because I have some idea to contribute to MPM,” he said at a meeting with the media Tuesday. – Bernama
