KUCHING: National boxer Daeloniel ‘Kilat Boy’ Mcdelon Bong, also known as Muhammad Asyraf Abdullah, has been conferred the Ahli Bintang Sarawak (A.B.S) award in conjunction with the 79th official birthday celebration of the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, last Saturday (Oct 11).

The honour recognises Daeloniel’s outstanding contributions in elevating Sarawak’s boxing scene and bringing the state to prominence on both national and international stages.

Hailing from Sri Aman, Daeloniel has played a pivotal role in the growth of boxing in Sarawak through his achievements and dedication. He is currently under the management of KB Management, Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) and the Sarawak State Sports Council (MSN).

A decorated athlete, Daeloniel’s list of achievements includes gold medals at the Malaysia Cup (Piala Malaysia) in 2019, 2021 and 2022, a silver medal at 2018 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and a gold medal for the 2022 edition. He also represented Malaysia at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

At the professional level, Daeloniel became Sarawak’s first-ever Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) Continental Champion in 2023, before going on to clinch the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia Silver title in 2024 and the WBC Asia Continental Championship in 2025.

Beyond his success in the ring, Daeloniel continues to inspire a new generation of Sarawakian fighters through his commitment to the sport and his role in nurturing emerging talents within the state’s boxing community. His achievements have raised Sarawak’s profile in the national sporting arena and inspired wider interest in boxing.

The investiture ceremony formed part of the annual celebration honouring individuals who have rendered distinguished service and brought pride to Sarawak and its people.
