MARUDI: Civil Defence officers captured a one-metre king cobra inside a shop in Marudi town this morning, as floods continue to push snakes into populated areas.

The Pusat Kawalan Operasi Daerah (PKOD) Marudi received a call at 9:40 am from a shopkeeper.

A four-man Charlie Squad was deployed and reached the scene within 20 minutes.

The team secured the cobra without injuries and completed the operation by 10:15 am.

Officials warned that floodwaters would increasingly drove snakes and other wildlife into residential and commercial areas.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and contact authorities immediately if they encounter dangerous animals.
