KUALA LUMPUR: The act of sparking controversy and politicising every issue by certain parties in the country must be stopped for the sake of Malaysia’s progress.

Senator Pele Peter Tinggom said that the Royal Address by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, regarding political controversy was very timely, given recent incidents.

He said that His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has called for an end to actions that create controversy and politicise every issue, emphasising that no group should prioritise only their own interests.

“This is so that we can move forward, united in progress, with one heart and soul, ‘Segulai Sejalai’, together as Malaysians, overcoming all challenges for the nation we love,” he said.

Pele made these remarks while debating the Royal Address of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during the opening of the Fourth Session of the Fifteenth Parliament in the recent Dewan Negara sitting.

He also welcomed the Royal Address for encouraging Malaysians to pray for the continued progress and prosperity of Malaysia, thus ensuring peace and a fulfilling, happy and prosperous life for all its people.

Additionally, he extended his congratulations to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who was recently awarded the ‘Outstanding Muslim Leader of the World 2024’ accolade at the ASEAN Business and Economic Forum.

He said that the award recognises the Premier’s visionary leadership, dedication and outstanding contributions to economic development and efforts to strengthen Sarawak’s position.

“This award also acknowledges his commitment to sustainability, digital transformation, and inclusive growth, making Sarawak a model of prosperity within ASEAN and globally,” he added.
