KAPIT: The Works Ministry (KKR) has allocated RM63,000 in aid to residents of Rumah Ekau, Nanga Semawang, who were affected by recent floods.
The contribution was handed over during a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme jointly organised by KKR, PUSPANITA, and strategic partners in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak celebration.
Held at Rumah Ekau, the programme also included beneficiaries from Rumah Awa and Rumah Serijin, with assistance comprising household essentials and financial support.
According to Minister of Works and Kapit MP, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the contribution reflects the ministry’s concern for the people, especially those in rural communities.
“This allocation is more than just financial aid—it is a symbol of unity and KKR’s commitment to reaching out to all segments of society, including those in remote areas,” he shared via his official Facebook page today.
He also noted that last year, KKR provided funding to repair the roof of the longhouse, which had been in a hazardous condition at the time.
“I’ve also received a request from residents to replace the longhouse’s wooden walls with concrete. This proposal will be given due consideration,” he added.
Nanta expressed strong support for PUSPANITA’s continued efforts in carrying out meaningful welfare initiatives that benefit the community.
