BANGI: Over 3,000 occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals and 70 experts in the region will gather for the ASEAN Safety and Health Workers Summit 2025 (ASEAN OSH Summit 2025) next week at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Organised by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the summit will focus on OSH and employee well-being.

NIOSH chairman, Chong Chieng Jen, urged Malaysian OSH practitioners to seize this golden opportunity by participating in programmes such as the Conference and Exhibition on Occupational Safety and Health (COSH 2025) and the NIOSH International Standards Seminar (NISS 2025).

“COSH 2025, which began as a national event, has now been elevated to an ASEAN-level international platform. It’s no longer just a conference, it’s now the largest OSH gathering in Malaysia, and this year’s participation certificates will feature the ASEAN logo,” he said in a press statement on Monday (July 28).

Held in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, the summit will take place on Aug 4-5, marking a new chapter for regional cooperation, innovation, and policy development centred on worker well-being.

“In addition to COSH 2025 and NISS 2025, the Summit will also host the Executive Meeting of the Asian Occupational Safety & Health Research Institute (AOSHRI), bringing together OSH research institutions from 14 Asian countries, and the ASEAN++ Workshop and Technical Visit involving participants from ASEAN OSH agencies,”he said.

Other events include the Malaysian Research Initiative for National Agenda (MaRINA 3.0) workshop to set national OSH research priorities for 2026 to 2030, a world record attempt for OSH Integrity Pledge, and an exhibition featuring over 60 OSH-related companies.

He said the key topics throughout the event will include psychosocial risk management, artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, ESG strategies in work environments, and the future of work that is more inclusive and healthy.

Participation fees can be claimed under the HRD Corp grant for eligible employers. NIOSH also accepts payment via Government Local Order (LO), Guarantee Letter (GL), or Letter of Undertaking (LOU) from government agencies.
