Sarawak-born designer, Moses Law, and his partner, Eric Yeong, unveiled Tangoo’s latest collection, ‘Venus Ascendant’, at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) 2025 with a dramatic showcase that blended fashion, performance, and mythology into an ethereal celebration of beauty and transformation.
Myth, Movement and Modern Glamour
THIS year’s Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) 2025 brimmed with invitations, but one that shimmered with irresistible allure came from Tangoo, a label co-founded by Sarawakian designer, Moses Law, and his Kuala Lumpur-based partner, Eric Yeong.

Tangoo has long been celebrated for its bold design aesthetic, a language that draws from dramatic expressions, whether through the fluidity of dance, the essence of a personality, or the intricacy of artisanal craftsmanship. In their hands, clothing becomes more than attire; each garment is a narrative, a stage where fabric, form, and imagination converge.
As a lover of conceptual dressing and poetic fashion imbued with depth and intention, I felt an instant kinship with Tangoo’s creative vision. Accepting their invitation was effortless.
Their chosen theme, ‘Venus Ascendant’, was equally captivating. In astrology, when Venus rises on the Ascendant, it bestows beauty, charm, and magnetism upon the personality. It is a placement that suggests elegance, grace, and the ability to win hearts effortlessly through presence alone.
Translated into fashion, it evokes a sense of allure that is not just surface-deep, but resonant with harmony, refinement, and the eternal human desire to embody beauty.
On August 5, as the opening designer of KLFW’s evening show, Tangoo unveiled ‘Venus Ascendant’ with a flourish that no one anticipated. Before the first look even graced the runway, the lights dimmed, the atmosphere shifted, and the stage became a canvas for performance.
The surprise opening act came from Jimmy Wong. A designer himself who also presented at KLFW, he choreographed and performed a dramatic contemporary dance piece. When the spotlight fell upon him, the audience erupted in delight.
His performance, fluid and powerful, became a living prologue to the collection: a tribute to friendship, movement, and transformation. More than an introduction, it embodied the soul of ‘Venus Ascendant’, a prelude that mirrored the collection’s ethereal energy.
Then, as the performance gave way to fashion, what followed was a procession of garments that seemed touched by starlight and shadow. Each piece reflected the duality of Venus – the planet of love and beauty – rising with poise upon the Ascendant.
The collection spoke of elegance in motion, of silhouettes that floated between strength and softness, of details that whispered stories of intimacy, art, and transcendence.
Under the creative direction of visionary designers, Eric Yeong and Moses Law, ‘Venus Ascendant’ tells the story of transformation, from silence to strength, and from spirit to silhouette. It is a celebration of inner radiance and rebirth, capturing the divine essence of femininity and fluidity in motion.
Each garment seemed to echo the shimmering grace of Venus rising from the ocean, blending softness, power, and elegance in equal measure.

“We want this collection to feel like a dream, like a moment where fantasy and fashion meet. ‘Venus Ascendant’ is about rising into your light, embracing your softness as strength, and dressing with heart,” said Law.
Yeong was unable to attend the show due to a personal emergency.
The evening’s lineup revealed womenswear and menswear ensembles rendered in flowing fabrics, layered textures, and radiant embellishments, all showcasing Tangoo’s artistry and mastery of fine tailoring. Wired velvet-wrapped corsets, delicate pearl embroidery, sculptural roses, and handmade accessories bore testament to meticulous craftsmanship.

From gilded gowns and pearlescent sheers to structured capes and modernised togas, every piece balanced classic luxury with fantastical energy. The colour story of gold, ivory, oyster, and moonlight evoked both ancient divinity and modern glamour.

Women’s pieces shimmered with draped satins and glistening textiles that highlighted sensuality and softness, while the menswear offered an ethereal twist: strength reimagined through delicacy and emotion.
Fabric choices were equally thoughtful. Sheer organdy (also spelled organdie), the lightest and firmest of cotton fabrics, lent crispness to select silhouettes, while the glossy finish of satin mirrored the lustrous elegance of pearls, both as motif and material incorporated into the collection’s intricate detailing.
Collection highlights included:
- Hand-appliquéd embroidery and 3D detailing
- Sculptured silhouettes for both men and women
- Artisanal use of pearls, crystals, and gold metal organza
- Velvet-wrapped wired corsetry and textural layering
- A showstopping finale piece inspired by angels, created using recycled materials
The result was a collection that existed somewhere between mythology and modernity, couture and poetry. With ‘Venus Ascendant’, Tangoo reaffirmed its place as a house that dares to dream, creating fashion that is not only worn but deeply felt.
The ‘Venus Ascendant’ collection is now available at the Tangoo Boutique, 1st Floor, 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
