SIBU: All alumni of Sacred Heart School carry the title of a Knight of Sacred Heart School Old Students’ Association (SHOSA), symbolising a lifelong duty to the school, says its president Penghulu Yong King Sung.
“The title is not merely an honorary designation; it is a call to duty – a call to serve, protect, and give back.
“The bond that Knights of SHOSA share transcends time and geography, creating an unwavering fraternity committed to the school’s well-being,” he said in his opening remarks at the SHOSA Annual General Meeting, prior to the Reunion Dinner held at Kingwood Hotel last night (Apr 5).
Yong also said that SHOSA stands as a testament to the strength, unity, and dedication of its members to their alma mater.
“I trust that all Knights of SHOSA, present and future, will continue to uphold the traditions of excellence, service, and loyalty to the School, ensuring its legacy endures for generations to come,” he said.
He added that the strength of SHOSA lies in the collective power of its members and the association thrives on the unity, generosity, and dedication of the Knights who understand that Sacred Heart School is more than just an institution—it is a family, a heritage, and a beacon of excellence.
Underscoring the importance of gratitude towards Sacred Heart School, he noted that the institution had not only imparted academic knowledge but had also instilled in its students the values of discipline, respect, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
“Our teachers shaped our character. They taught us to strive with purpose, to lead with integrity, and to be fearless in the face of challenges,” he stated.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to all teachers, past and present, whose dedication has been instrumental in shaping generations of Knights.
As SHOSA continues to thrive, Yong highlighted the need for a generational shift in leadership.
He said for the past two decades, Knights from the 1980s have helmed SHOSA.
“With 20 years of stewardship from the 80s Knights, it is now time for a new era. The theme for tonight—‘Age of Knights: Rise of the 90s’—is a beacon of change.
“I am confident that by the next AGM in 2026, we will witness the rise of leaders from the 90s and 2000s, carrying forward our proud traditions with renewed energy,” he added.
The next major gathering will take place in 2027, commemorating Sacred Heart School’s 125th anniversary.
