KUCHING: A total of 12,000 Sumbangsih Raya boxes were distributed this year to security and enforcement personnel working during Hari Raya, with kolok mee included in the packs for the first time.
The symbolic handover ceremony, held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today, was officiated by the Minister of Women, Children, and Community Well-being Development Sarawak, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
The event was also graced by the Premier of Sarawak, who expressed appreciation for the sacrifices made by uniformed personnel in safeguarding the community during the festive season.
The Sumbangsih Raya programme, an annual initiative by the Sarawak Women and Family Department, marks its 35th edition this year.

Originally launched with just 2,000 boxes for two agencies, it has since expanded to benefit 11 agencies in Sarawak, including the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM).
“This initiative reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to recognise the dedication of our security and enforcement personnel.
“Their service ensures public safety even during festive celebrations,” said Fatimah.
For the third consecutive year, the programme has maintained the distribution of 12,000 Sumbangsih Raya boxes.
This year, kolok mee was introduced into the packs following a suggestion by Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
The preparation process began on March 3 and 4, with the final packing session on March 5, when 4,440 boxes were packed in just over an hour with the assistance of recipient agencies.
“The teamwork and enthusiasm shown during the packing session reflect the spirit of togetherness that Hari Raya embodies,” Fatimah added.
“We hope this initiative continues to receive full support.
“It is not just about giving out gifts, it is about showing our appreciation to those who work tirelessly to ensure peace and safety in Sarawak.”
