Korean suffers ankle injury in drain fall

KUCHING: A foreigner was injured after falling into an eight-foot-deep drain in front of a condominium entrance here last night (Jul 2).

The 50-something Korean victim is believed to have suffered a fractured left ankle.

He was standing in pain while waiting for rescue to arrive.

Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya station were dispatched to the scene at Lorong B4 BDC, about 7km away, following a distress call at 8.25 pm.

The team arrived within 10 minutes and used a ladder to help bring the victim out of the drain.

He was later handed over to paramedics for initial treatment before being transported to the hospital for further medical care.

The firefighters ended the rescue operation at 8.46 pm.
