KUCHING: Kampung Sidanu here has unveiled its first-ever recreational park and gateway, a community project aimed at promoting green tourism and local economic growth.

Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Brahim said the park marked a milestone for the small village, bringing a distinctive charm despite its modest size.

He noted that the project would open new opportunities to promote Kampung Sidanu as a destination for visitors seeking nature and rural experiences.

“I hope Kampung Sidanu Recreational Park can be promoted to attract visitors seeking the village’s natural greenery, while generating new income for the community.

“This park has created an exclusive atmosphere in the village. I believe it will become a unique selling point for Kampung Sidanu.

“The village chief and I also plan to develop a river attraction to draw more visitors to enjoy recreational activities here,” he said when officiating the new park last night (Aug 3).

Hamzah praised the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and residents for their unity, describing it as the key factor behind the success of the project.

He also announced an allocation of RM100,000 for improvements to the park, along with RM20,000 to upgrade the Kampung Sidanu multipurpose hall under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP).

He stressed that these allocations were part of efforts to support facilities that benefit the local community.

“This project succeeded because of the strong leadership and close cooperation between the JKKK and the villagers,” he added.
