PADAWAN: The RM500,000 drainage project in Kampung Simboh here is progressing smoothly and has been well received by the local community, according to the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).

The department said the project is expected to have a positive impact on residents’ daily lives by addressing the village’s recurring flash flood issues.

“The project is progressing smoothly and has been well-received by the local community, who expressed appreciation for the initiative and its expected impact on their daily lives,” it said.

A site inspection was carried out earlier today (Aug 6) by DID engineer Geoffrey Gerawat Liu, along with four technical officers from the department.

They were joined by Kampung Simboh village chief Jinun Marer and members of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).

DID noted that the initiative, funded under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), aims to establish a more systematic and sustainable drainage system to address frequent flash floods in the village.
