KUCHING: Kuching Rugby Football Club’s Eurich Tirisi ponders on his team’s hard-fought journey to victory in the UNIMAS 10s 2024, overcoming tough opponents and early mistakes to triumph 10-0 over Sibu in the cup final.
The KRFC forward credited the team’s resilience for their success, and spoke candidly about the challenges his team faced throughout the tournament.
“The tournament was tough from start to finish. All our opponents were experienced players, which made it difficult to break their defensive lines.
“However, we were able to adapt our gameplay by learning their patterns and creating spaces, which allowed us to level the field from there.”
Eurich, who played a key role in the victory, reflected on the team’s initial struggles.
“The first game against Sibu was a bit messy for us. There were communication issues and mistakes, but we used that experience to improve.
“We took those lessons, and by the time the final came around, we were more focused and determined,” he told Sarawak Tribune recently.
The second chance to face Sibu in the final proved pivotal for Eurich and his teammates.
“I feel very satisfied and happy to have received that second chance.
“It allowed us to pay back the mistakes from our first game against them and show them our true potential.”
The victory was particularly sweet for Eurich and KRFC, who also pocketed RM1,000.
“The win feels amazing, and it’s a testament to the hard work and improvements we made throughout the tournament.
“I’m proud of my teammates, and I’m excited for what lies ahead for our team.” he exclaimed.
