KUCHING: The much-anticipated Kuching International Cat Festival (KICF) 2025 will be held from September 26 to 28, 2025, at the Kuching Waterfront, promising a vibrant celebration of feline lovers.
The festival, organised annually in conjunction with Pesta Kuching, is recognised as the only international cat-themed event of its scale in the region.
Among the highlights is the World Cat Show, an international competition that will gather a wide range of cat breeds from around the globe.
Visitors can also look forward to the Cat Parade, a colourful procession featuring cats in creative costumes parading with their owners.
The festival will also host Cat Grooming demonstrations, where professional groomers and experts share tips on feline care and grooming techniques.
Adding to the excitement is the Cat Expo, an exhibition of products, services, and the latest innovations related to cat care and pet ownership.
The festival is expected to be a major draw for both local and international tourists, cementing Kuching’s reputation as the “City of Cats.”
According to Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU), which spearheads the initiative, the festival reflects ongoing efforts to position Kuching as an iconic and unique tourist destination in Southeast Asia.
The festival also benefits the local economy by involving traders, pet industry entrepreneurs, and cultural performers.
In addition to the entertainment, KICF 2025 also serves as an educational platform to raise public awareness on animal welfare and responsible pet care. The programmes are designed to instill compassion and respect for animals among the community.
