KUCHING: Melaka FC’s growing reputation for frustrating opponents has caught the attention of Kuching City FC’s head coach, Aidil Sharin Sahak, ahead of their challenging away fixture this Saturday (May 9).
Aidil said the Melaka side have shown an encouraging upward trend in form in recent weeks, making them a side that cannot be taken lightly.
He added that the improvement serves as a timely reminder for his players to stay focused and disciplined throughout the match.
Such caution, he stressed, is vital to avoid any unexpected setbacks in what is expected to be a demanding encounter.
“Melaka are a tough team and can cause upsets, especially when playing at home. We need to be more cautious and cannot take this match lightly,” Aidil told Sarawak Tribune.
Despite the challenge, Aidil emphasised that securing all three points remains firmly in Kuching City’s plan.
However, the Singapore-born coach acknowledged that there are no easy fixtures at this stage of the campaign, especially with the home side also desperate for a positive result.
For the past three league matches, Melaka beat Challenge Cup winners, Sabah 1-0, lost to league winners, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) 2-1, and drew 1-1 against Negeri Sembilan.
The Cats will face Melaka FC at 8:30 pm at Stadium Hang Jebat.
Kuching City currently sit third in the standings with 47 points from 22 matches, behind Selangor, who are on 49 points in second, and JDT on top.
