KUCHING: Kuching City FC have made their first move ahead of the 2026/27 season, retaining nine players from the squad that delivered the most successful campaign in the club’s history.

Ariff Farhan, Shahril Sa’ari, Wesley Azcang Milkias, Zharmien Ashraf and Diego Baggio were confirmed today to remain with the Cats, joining Haziq Nadzli, Ramadhan Saifullah, Rodney Celvin and Alif Hassan, whose extensions were announced earlier.

The nine formed part of the squad that propelled Kuching City to a runners-up finish in the Malaysia Super League and a first-ever Malaysia Cup final appearance under head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak.

Retaining a sizeable chunk of that group provides continuity for a side that emerged as one of the country’s most consistent performers last season.

Haziq established himself as one of the league’s standout goalkeepers, while Rodney and Alif brought leadership and stability to a side that regularly challenged the traditional heavyweights. Ramadhan remained a reliable attacking outlet throughout the campaign.

Ariff Farhan, Wesley, Zharmien, Baggio and Shahril also featured prominently as the Cats enjoyed a breakthrough season that raised expectations around the club.

Rather than pressing the reset button, Kuching City appear intent on building from a foundation that has already proven capable of competing at the highest level.

More squad announcements are expected in the coming weeks as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign.
