KUCHING: Kuching City FC’s upcoming Indonesia tour will serve as a key test for players aiming to secure their place in the starting eleven ahead of the new season.

Head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said the team is ready to take the next step following a string of dominant friendly wins across Sarawak.

“Yes, that’s our objective — to look ahead and make sure we’re in good shape. We’re ready,” he told Sarawak Tribune in an interview recently.

The team will travel to Indonesia from July 17 to 28, where they are scheduled to play five friendlies, including one against Liga 1 outfit Dewa United FC. Another confirmed opponent comes from Division 2, with one final fixture still pending.

“When we go to Indonesia, it’s part of our preparation for the season. We want to see who’s truly ready to fight for a spot in the first eleven.

“That’s what’s most important to us — identifying the players who are match-ready and consistent,” he said.

Although not all fixtures are confirmed, the tour is expected to provide tougher tests and higher intensity, giving KCFC players valuable exposure against professional Indonesian clubs.

“We’re still waiting for official confirmation from one club, but what’s confirmed now is that we’ll face Dewa United,” Aidil added.

KCFC have shown strong form in their recent warm-up matches — defeating Brunei U23 (5–1), Bintulu FA (7–0), Nangka United (13–0), Mukah FA (9–1) and Betong FA (7–0).

The tour is seen as a crucial part of KCFC’s pre-season preparations to assess squad depth, build chemistry, and sharpen match fitness before competitive action begins.
