KUCHING: Kuching City FC have confirmed the signing of three new foreign players ahead of the Malaysia Super League season as part of the club’s move to strengthen its squad for the upcoming campaign.

Club president Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, speaking after a recording session at TVS Sports, revealed that the trio will add depth and firepower across key positions.

The new signings are Ronald Wanja of Cameroon, Scott Phillip of the Philippines and João Pedro, a Timor-Leste national player.

“These players were selected based on two main factors – financial sustainability and team compatibility,” said Fazzrudin.

“We were cautious not to overstretch the club’s budget. At the same time, we wanted players who understand the team’s culture and can blend in quickly,” he added.

The selection process, he said, was conducted in close consultation with head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak, who continues to lead the club’s efforts to build a competitive and cohesive side.

Fazzrudin also confirmed that Petrus Shitembi, a key playmaker for the squad, will remain with Kuching City FC for the coming season.

“This will certainly boost our stability and allow the team to progress with a more balanced setup,” he said.

Kuching City FC are currently preparing for the upcoming season with eyes set on improving their league standing and making a deeper push in domestic competitions.
