KUCHING: A sea of green and white is expected to engulf Stadium Negeri this Sunday (May 17) as Kuching City FC gear up for their final league fixture of the season against Kuala Lumpur City FC.
Kuching City FC chief executive officer Iswandi Ali Hassan has called on supporters to turn up in full force and recreate the electric atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the club’s biggest home matches.
He said the upcoming encounter is more than just the final league game, but also an important step in the club’s broader ambitions as they prepare for the Malaysia Cup final and continue their push towards potential Asian competition qualification.
“This is not just another match. The team is on the verge of making history, not only for the club but for Sarawak football as a whole,” he said in a social media post.
Iswandi stressed that the players will need every ounce of support from the stands, recalling the powerful backing witnessed during the Malaysia Cup semi-final clash against Selangor at the same venue.
“We are still fighting for a chance to play on the Asian stage, and that is why the support from all fans is crucial. I hope we can recreate the same incredible atmosphere as we did in the semi-final,” he added.
He also called on supporters to come dressed in the club’s colours as a show of unity and pride.
“I urge everyone to come in green and white as a symbol of our support and pride for this team. Our players need the full backing of Sarawak fans in this crucial moment.
“Let us fill the stadium and fight together this Sunday,” he said.
The Cats will take on KL City on Sunday at 8.15 pm.
