KUCHING: Kuching City FC faces a crucial challenge on Saturday evening (Jan 24) at Sarawak State Stadium in Petra Jaya as they seek to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Penang FC in the Malaysia Cup to advance into the quarterfinals.

Winning is the main focus for the host team.

With determination, they aim to make the most of the remaining 90 minutes to chase at least two goals to overturn the one-goal deficit after the visitors won 1-0 at home last week.

“We must play with full commitment tonight because this is the only chance to stay in contention for the prestigious cup,” Aidil said recently.

The Singaporean born coach said his players have already put the narrow loss last weekend behind them and are focusing on the task at hand.

Aidil believes the mission will not be easy, as the visiting team will be prepared to withstand the pressure from his players.

For Aidil, his players cannot afford to repeat the mistakes made during the recent away match.

Meanwhile, Aidil also urged his attacking line to be more aggressive throughout the match.

“Looking at last week’s match, we had many opportunities but failed to score. We hope the same situation will not happen tonight. In other words, the attacking line needs to be more focused on scoring goals,” he added.

Meanwhile, he continued to call for supporters to come to State Stadium in Petra Jaya to cheer for the players.

“We hope fans will fill every corner of the stadium. Your cheers are vital as motivation for the players,” he said.
