KUCHING: Head coach, Aidil Sharin Sahak, of Kuching City FC was honoured with the Best Coach Award at the National Football Awards (ABK) 2024-2025 on Wednesday night.

The Singaporean triumphed over two other finalists – Johor Darul Ta’zim’s Hector Bidoglio and Selangor FC’s Kinoshi Katsuhito – to claim the prestigious accolade.

Appointed on August 2, 2023 to succeed Irfan Bakti, Aidil quickly turned Kuching City’s fortunes around.

He led them to the 2023 MFL Challenge Cup final, where they finished as runners-up to PDRM, setting the stage for even greater achievements.

In the 2024-25 season, Aidil’s leadership and tactical brilliance propelled the team to new heights.

With 10 wins, nine draws and five losses, amassing 39 points, a point behind Borneo neighbours, Sabah FC.

Kuching City secured a top-four finish in the Malaysian Super League, a remarkable turnaround from their previous relegation struggle.

Aidil’s dedication, vision and tactical astuteness have not only revitalised the club but also firmly established Kuching City FC as a prominent force in Malaysian football.
