KUCHING: The Kuching Division Boxing Association (KBA) is sending a team of 17 boxers to the second edition of the Sarawak Open Boxing Championship.
The championship is scheduled to take place at the Sri Aman Indoor Stadium from Aug 20 to 26.
KBA president Datuk Dzulkarnaen Ahmad revealed that this contingent of boxers represents three affiliated clubs – 511 ASWAT Boxing Club, Knox 13 Boxing Club, and Panglima Seman Boxing Club.
“Ten boxers will contend in the Elite category (ages 21-40), while the remaining seven boxers will compete in the Sukma Team category (ages 16-20),” he said.
Dzulkarnaen expressed confidence in the debut appearance of KBA’s boxers in this championship, expecting them to deliver their utmost performance.
He made these remarks during a media session following the flag presentation ceremony to contingent head Sandra Sharon Bala Krishnan on Wednesday (Aug 16).
KBA was established in April last year, and it comprises a committee of 14 members, all possessing extensive experience at various levels, including state and national.
