KUCHING: Officials are hoping to draw about 2,000 participants for the Kuching Mental Health Charity Run 2.0.
The Mental Health Association Sarawak (MHAS) Kuching branch has now opened registration for the event themed “Moving Beyond Stigma” which will held here on Nov 1.
MHAS Kuching branch chairman, Dr Ng Boon Seng said the event is more than a fun run, describing it as a shared movement of hope, support, and change for the community.
He said the theme served as a reminder that many people silently struggle with unseen issues, and that no one should have to face such challenges alone.
“This run is a call for all of us to move beyond silence, beyond judgment, and beyond stigma — towards understanding, kindness, and hope,” he said.
He added that the proceeds from the event will go towards sustaining and expanding the branch’s efforts, including community outreach programmes and the development of the MHAS Center, which provides rehabilitation and independent living support for individuals with mental illness who lack shelter and support.
Funds raised will also support ongoing mental health services for individuals and families in need.
Members of the public are invited to take part in the charity run. Registration is open at https://cps4.me/kuching-mental-health-charity-run26.
