Kuching, Miri police chiefs to swap positions in April

KUCHING: The police chiefs of Kuching and Miri will trade places next month as part of a nationwide police reshuffle involving 39 senior officers.

Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah and Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu will switch roles on April 21, as confirmed by Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Secretary SAC Datuk Kamaruzaman Abdullah.

Meanwhile, DSP Ooi Jin Bing, currently the Operations and Intelligence Staff Officer at the Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) Brigade, will be transferred to Ulu Kinta, Perak.

He will assume the rank of Superintendent and take on the role of Commanding Officer of the GOF Northern Brigade’s First Battalion. 

In addition, ACP Nor Omar Sappi from Bukit Aman will be posted to Sarawak as the new Head of the Department of Internal Security and Public Order.

Nor Omar, who currently serves as ACP of the Quality Management Section (Research and Development) at the Inspector-General of Police Secretariat, will also be promoted to SAC.

Joining him in Sarawak is Supt Mohd Azahari Mohd Noor, who will take on the role of Deputy Chief of Special Branch (Intelligence and Operations) and receive a promotion to ACP.
